Description and working principle
To close bins, hoppers and silos containing powders or granular materials, or to close conveyor inlets and outlets, Slide Valves are traditionally used in many cases.
With the dustproof VLQ, VLR, VLC, and VLS range WAM® has accomplished its goal of offering the market an industrial product with special design features that are achievable only through mass production.
Depending on their specific requirements, customers are able to choose between four basic models available in numerous variations.
The VLQ Slide Valve with a square cross section consists of a two piece carbon or stainless steel frame which is partly coated with WAM®’s unique SINT® polymer composite and a sliding blade either made from SINT® polymer composite or from stainless steel.
Advantages and innovative features
- The VLR Valve with the same features as the VLQ but with a rectangular cross section.
- VLC Valves correspond to the VLQ in almost every detail except for their round cross section.
- The VLS Valve is suitable for applications without headload. It is available in the same design as the VLQ but, unlike that model, has an integrated electropneumatic actuator.
Performance and technical features
VL-type Slide Valves can be equipped with either manual, electropneumatic or gear motor actuators (see chapters on actuators) by WAM®.
Advantages and innovative features
VLQ and VLC
- Valve frames, which are entirely coated with SINT® polymer composite (food-grade FDA-approved on request) offer maximum protection of the material being handled.
- The all round dustproof seal lips, which are incorporated in the polymer coating, ensure 100% safe sealing without any additional measures.
- The sliding blades, which in the standard version are fully coated with a special version of SINT® polymer composite, guarantee low-friction operation. Depending on the application, blade options manufactured from various materials are available.
- The small number of parts make dismantling and reassembly of the Valve an easy job.
VLS
- In addition to the features of the other models, the VLS has the smallest possible overall dimensions thanks to the actuator assembly inside the valve frame.
