VE - Vertical Screw Conveyors
VE - Vertical Screw Conveyors
Description and working principle
The VE-type Vertical Screw Conveyor system has been developed and manufactured by WAM® in the late 1970s. In the early 1980s the feeding and lifting system was patented in different countries.
The system consists of a Horizontal Screw Feeder, which is either designed for feeding from bag hoppers or from silos, and a Vertical Screw Conveyor. Material is discharged by the Vertical Screw into a weigh hopper, one or more silos, or into further conveying systems.
Fabricated parts, screws, end bearing and intermediate bearing assemblies, which offer particular maintenance-friendliness have been specially designed for this system.
The VE Vertical Screw Conveyor system stands out for its high volumetric and mechanical conveying efficiency achieved.
DESIGN FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE DATA
- External tube diameter: 114 mm (4.5 in), 139 mm (5.5 in), 168 mm (6.6 in), 193 mm (7.6 in), 219 mm (8.6 in), 273 mm (10.7 in), 323 mm (12.7 in)
- Elevation height in steps of 1 metre (3.3 ft) up to a maximum of 20 metres (65.6 ft).
- Throughput rates: between 3 m³/h (1.8 cfm) and 95 m³/h (56 cfm) considering the volumetric efficiency of Portland cement.
Advantages and innovative features
In comparison with bucket elevators and pneumatic conveying systems:
- Minimum overall dimensions
- Easy to maintain
- Few spare parts required
- Best price-performance ratio
